The Florentine auction sets new recordsPrices for fine and rare wines of Italy have reached new heights at a recent charity auction Asta di Vini in Florence.

Imperial (6 l) of Sassicaia 2002 was sold for 2,100 euros, three magnums of Tenuta di Trinoro 2000 — 1900 euros, a 7-bottle vertical collection of Tignanello (2001, 1999, 1997, 1995, 1993, 1985, 1971) — 1300 euros, double magnum of Ornellaia 1999 — 1100 euros.

All in all, the auction gathered 56,300 euros which were donated to the cultural theatre fund Maggio Musicale Fiorentino that organizes annual music festivals in Florence.

Asta di Vini auction was started in 2001 by count Duccio Corsini and his wife Clotilda. It is part of the prestigious Alla Corte del Vino tasting in Tuscany that gathers leading producers of the region.

This year the auction featured 73 lots that included 250 wines from renowned Italian estates. Among other record makers are 6 bottles of Siepi 1997 Castello di Fonterutoli (1200 euros), double magnum of San Leonardo 2000 Tenuta San Leonardo (900 euros), salmanazar (9 l) of Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella 2000 (1200 euros), magnum of Solaia (800 euros), 6 bottles of Contemporare 2003 Arnaldo Caprai (850 euros), Bellavista Franciacorta Gran Cuvee Sigillo Teatro alla Scala (850 euros), magnum of Marsiliana 2001 Tenuta Marsiliana del principe Corsini (1000 euros).
